The Bucs supporting students at Buccaneers Academy schools
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Bucs) kicked-off the school year by scoring several touchdowns with the 24 Buccaneers Academies. Last month, over 11,000 students received backpacks during the Buccaneers Backpack Caravan. Additionally, with the support of hundreds of volunteers from UnitedHealthcare and representatives from the FL Dept. of Agriculture, the Bucs installed 5 learning gardens at the following seven Buccaneers Academies on September 22:
Tampa Bay Blvd. ES
Twin Lakes ES
This initiative is part of a three year commitment that will equip each of the 24 adopted schools with vegetable gardens of their own to incorporate with the science curriculum and help promote healthy eating by expanding their culinary expertise.
In addition to their extensive involvement and commitment to their 24 Bucs Academies, a new initiative was launched in September: The Gatorade Junior Training Camp led by Chris Leak and Darrell Taylor. This 50 minute, training-camp like clinic, takes our students through four key fitness stations that the players themselves face during their training camps (see photos below). The purpose of these clinics is to expand the footprint of the Buccaneers’ passion for health and active lifestyles to students beyond their Academies.
In partnership with the Glazer Family Foundation, a new Vision Mobile was revealed at Twin Lakes Elementary on October 13.
We look forward to a growing partnership with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!
