VALIC: District partner models care and compassion
Representatives from VALIC proudly presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) in celebration of 50 years of partnership with the district. VALIC directed that the money be added to the Lee Elementary School Relief fund, and Beverly Smith, principal, was most humbled and honored by the donation.
Local and National VALIC officers were in attendance at the presentation held downtown in the school board auditorium, including Rob Scheinerman, president of the VALIC/AIG Group Retirement; Shawn Duffy, president of VALIC Financial Advisors, Inc.; Eric Levy, executive vice president, VALIC/AIG Group Retirement; Todd Buchanan, senior vice president for all operations in the southeastern U.S., and Chris Brown, district vicepPresident and manager of all VALIC operations in the Tampa Bay area.
According to Buchanan, "This is our 50th year as business partners and Rob [Scheinerman] wanted to thank the district for a terrific 50-year relationship." Superintendent Jeff Eakins proudly accepted the check on behalf of the district, and warmly thanked VALIC for all they have done for and with the district over the past 50 years. VALIC is an active supporter of countless HCPS initiatives, including the Hillsborough Association of School Administrators (HASA), the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association (CTA) and the New Teacher Orientation/Hillsborough Educators Institute each year.
VALIC truly appreciates the partnership that they have had with HCPS, and Buchanan emphasized, "I hope our donation will help the students and teachers from Lee Elementary recover a bit more rapidly than they would have otherwise. They’ve certainly been through some hardships this year!"
