HCPS Schools Chosen as Best High Schools

Tampa, Fla. – (May 18, 2017) – Students of Hillsborough County Public Schools continue to rank as some of the best in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 list of best high schools.
The U.S. News rankings include data on close to 20,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals. The rankings are based on performance on state assessments and how well they serve all students, not just those bound for college.
Twelve Hillsborough County Public Schools were ranked among the best in the state and nationally. The list includes:


Gold Medal
Plant High School ranked #22 in Florida (228 nationally)
Newsome High School - #30 (338 nationally)
Robinson High School - #39 (475 nationally)


Silver Medal
Steinbrenner High School - #45 (574 nationally)
Bloomingdale High School - #49 (608 nationally)
Strawberry Crest High School - #55 (693 nationally)
Sickles High School - #71 (813 nationally)
Tampa Bay Tech High School - #87 (1036 nationally)
Alonso High School - #117 (1476 nationally)
Riverview High School - #121 (1510 nationally)
Plant City High School - #122 (1518 nationally)
Brooks Debartolo Collegiate High School - #142 (1848 nationally)
