Hillsborough County Public Schools Showcases African American History

Tampa, Fla. – (February 6, 2017) – Hillsborough County Public Schools showcases the district’s commitment to excellence in African American history through a digital learning partnership. On Tuesday, February 7, from 9 -11 a.m., Jefferson High School students will demonstrate EverFi, a digital learning platform they are using in the classroom.
Superintendent Jeff Eakins will join former Florida Senator and African American History Task Force (AAHTF) Chair Tony Hill, in addition to representatives from the AAHTF and EverFi to see how the students at Jefferson High School are participating in the digital African American history course.
The event will also highlight Hillsborough County Public Schools’ application for exemplary status for African American Studies to the Commissioner of Education’s African American History Task Force.
From 9 - 9:45 a.m., Superintendent Eakins and members of the task force will discuss the premiere African American studies program at Jefferson High School. From 9:45 - 10:30 a.m., the group will visit with the students while they highlight the digital lessons.
