Getting Started Tips
Students are assigned to specific school locations based on residency. To look up the school to which your child will be assigned, visit the School Locator. Type in your address and you will see the school name and contact information.
Parents who would like their children to attend a school other than the one to which they have been assigned can go through our School Choice Office. To find out more about our School Choice options, click here.
The School Choice website provides information about school options, the application process and application deadlines. The application window for new students will be open mid January through mid February. A paper application will be required.
For questions regarding school choice please call (813) 272-4692.
From mid January through mid February every elementary school will be holding Kindergarten Roundup events. At these events parents will have the opportunity to visit the schools and get a glimpse of the academic program provided. It is also an opportunity for parents to register their children for kindergarten. Should you miss this opportunity, you are welcome to register your child at any time after kindergarten Roundup.
To register: Parents will need to provide the following documents to register their child for kindergarten:
- Proof of Birth
- Proof of Residence
- Florida Physical (dated within one year of the first day of school)
- Up-to-date shot record
For more information, please see Entry Requirements.
*TIP - Before registering at the school site, please call the school ahead of time to ensure that the proper staff will be available to help you. It is also suggested that you speak with a staff member to go over the documentation you will be providing to ensure that it meets school and district requirements.
Questions about the kindergarten program can be directed to the Supervisor of Kindergarten at (813) 272-4959.
